Some venues just ask for a little drama—in the best way. Barunah Plains, with its sweeping lawns, stately homestead and wild, windswept gardens, is one of those places. So when Lauren and Jordan came to me dreaming of wedding flowers with presence—fluffy, full, and impossible to ignore—I knew exactly where to start.
The Venue: Barunah Plains
Barunah Plains is a dream for any florist who loves a bit of grandeur. The historic bluestone manor, endless green, and that iconic avenue of trees—there’s a sense of old-world elegance here that calls for flowers that can hold their own.
The Florals: Fluffy, Impactful Wedding Flowers Barunah Plains
For Lauren and Jordan, it was all about texture and volume—think clouds of locally grown dahlias, pillowy hydrangea, and armfuls of garden roses. We played with scale, building dramatic ceremony arrangements that flanked the aisle and framed the couple against the backdrop of the homestead’s grand facade. Every piece was designed to catch the light and draw the eye, but never overpower the venue’s natural beauty.
Like any outdoor weddings, flowers are exposed to the elements—especially in the height of an Australian summer. For Lauren and Jordan, I made sure to prepare each stem with extra care, conditioning and hydrating the blooms so they’d withstand the summer weather and look their best from ceremony to sunset.
Inside the reception, we kept things refined—long tables lined with sculptural centrepieces, layered with soft greenery and those signature fluffy blooms. The palette? Warm neutrals with pops of yellow, echoing the late summer landscape outside.
